EVGC get 3rd Place in CCPR Sports Club of The Year

CCPR, the national alliance of the governing bodies of sport and recreation, acknowledged and commended the hard work of seven outstanding sports clubs across the UK. Amongst the winners in the prestigious annual Sports Club of the Year Awards was Erewash Valley Gymnastics Club, which picked up third place.

The club was presented with its award in a top London hotel by CCPR President, HRH The Earl of Wessex. As well as a plaque, winners all took back to their clubs a substantial cash prize.

Tim Lamb, CCPR Chief Executive, commented:

“CCPR is delighted to be rewarding such an exceptional club.  Erewash Valley Gymnastics Club is a great example of what a community club can achieve and this award is testament to the incredibly hard work put in by those who run it. But as well as long hours in the committee room or coaching youngsters, the people who run this club have also provided expertise. That means that it provides a great service to its members and opens up sporting opportunities for the whole community.

“It’s quite an accolade to be selected for a prize from amongst the 150,000 community sports clubs across the UK and Erewash can be very proud of its achievement.”

EVGC’S FIRST EVER RHYTHMIC BRITISH CHAMPION

AnalisaHinson

Analisa Hinson U10 British Champion

The Rhythmic British Championships are the culmination of the competition calendar for rhythmic gymnasts and this year EVGC took three girls to Stoke on Trent to compete against the best in the Country.  All the gymnasts compete on the Saturday for the overall title, with the top six in each apparatus going through to an individual apparatus final on the Sunday.

Analisa took the U10 title with a massive 20.434 points, ahead of her nearest rival Gabriela Caruso (Esprit Gymnastics) 19.700 and Kira Kadwill (South Essex) 19.384.  This was a strongly contested age group and Analisa put in two stunning routines (Hoop and Rope) to gain the title.  On Sunday Analisa continued her success by gaining Gold on both apparatus.

In the U12 age group Catherine McNicol, a member of the National Squad, gained a fabulous second place in the overall competition, and continued her form on the Sunday gaining Silver for her Ball and Clubs routines and Bronze with her rope.

Also competing was Hannah Dulston in the Junior age group who gained a very creditable 13th position overall with her Rope, Hoop, Ribbon and Ball routines.

Gymnasts help take county titles two years running

Erewash Valley Gymnasts helped to take the trophy for Derbyshire in this years county floor and vault championships, which took place at Rushcliffe in April.

Teams from Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, put their best gymnasts forward to compete in set moves on the vault and floor at different age groups.

The Derbyshire team consisted of a substantial number of Erewash Valley gymnasts, and they did not fail to impress.

Mollie Reardon gained silver in the 8-9 year age group, Chloe Wilson gained silver in the 12-13 year age group and Rebecca Turner also gained silver in the 14+ age group.

This helped Derbyshire to gain overall gold for the 8-9 year age group, and the 12-13 year age group, with silver for the 14+; resulting in Derbyshire taking 1st place overall and the winners trophy for the second year running.
