Welfare

Erewash Valley Gymnastics Club are very fortunate to have 5 nominated Welfare Officers who are responsible for:

• Responding to child protection and poor practice concerns.
• Providing support and advice in the implementation of procedures that safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.
• Assist the club to be more focused in its activities e.g. involving children, young people and adults at risk in decision making processes.

All the Welfare officers have received both safeguarding training and the compulsory "Time to Listen" course delivered by British Gymnastics trained welfare officers. They all have current DBS and are members of British Gymnastics. Every year we are offered the opportunity to work with other welfare officers at conferences and network events. We work as a team when investigating concerns, this ensures a well balanced and unbiased view of the concerns and ensures consistent delivery of high standard investigations. We also support coaches in understanding the emotional needs of their gymnasts offering advice and support so that coaches can make the most of the gymnastic sessions.

All coaches are encouraged to participate in training around safeguarding and protecting children as well as coaching.
